Supervision & teaching
Explaining a measurement to someone who does not share your training is the same work as making it: you find out what you actually understand. I teach physics to biologists, and I build the material from scratch when none exists.
Teaching
- 2025–26 Mechanics and mechanobiology, 12 h of lectures, Master IBP Interface Biology-Physics, Sorbonne Université. Course built personally: 6 h at the blackboard on capillarity and viscoelastic fluids, 6 h on mechanical measurement in biology, plus a problem class and two exam papers. The students come from biology, so some physical concepts have to be made intuitive without being flattened, while the course still goes far enough into the underlying complexity to remain useful for understanding living systems.
- 2016–19 Matlab programming, 91 h of lab classes, ESPCI Paris, during my PhD.
Supervision
Since 2017: one PhD student, one second-year Master's project, six first-year Master's placements, one technician and one R&D engineer, in academic laboratories and in industry. Lydia Kebbal, whose PhD I will supervise from October 2026, was first my student during her first year and then her second year of the Master's; she is a co-author of the 2026 paper on stress sensors.
